“When
I picked her up, they told me that she was shy, afraid of strangers. I didn’t know that this would
mean that she would be afraid of everyone!. Even with family members, she will shy away from if we reach
for her. New people she avoids, backing up on the leash, sometimes even barking like crazy.
It’s worse with some people than others. How do I help her learn that people, and new experiences
are ok?”
Does this sound like you? Do you have a dog who is fearful in new places, with new people, or even with
family members? There are many things you can do to teach your
dog to be more confident in new situations, and handling skills you can develop to learn when your dog needs help, and when
to let them proceed on their own.
Your dog doesn’t have to remain a prisoner to their fear. They
CAN learn how to cope in new situations. With patience and time and practice you can teach your
dog to be a more confident, relaxed, happy dog who can get out and enjoy life. This afternoon seminar will help you to better understand how to teach coping skills to your dog.
At the same time, you will learn how to better recognize stress signals and how to use calming body language and signals
to reassure and inspire confidence. Come join us for a relaxed atmosphere of fun and support and learning.
Please note: This is seminar
is primarily lecture and demonstration. We will select 5 to 6 dogs to accompany their owners to participate
in demonstrations for the group to witness. If you think your dog would make a good candidate, please submit
a short (1 paragraph) description of your situation with your dog. After registrations are complete, we
will contact the dogs selected to participate. Not all dogs will be emotionally able to handle the stress
of the seminar environment.
Thank
you, we look forward to seeing you
